Bandai Movie Monster Series Megalon (2023)

The packaging alone makes this feel like a proper collector’s piece, and the figure itself has that chunky, retro proportions from the 1973 film spot-on. Paint application is clean with no sloppy overlaps, which is rare for an exclusive at this price. It’s now the centerpiece of my Showa shelf.

The sculpt captures Megalon's weirdly charming menace perfectly, and the paint on those drill hands and chest fins is surprisingly crisp for an exclusive. It stands solid on my shelf next to my other Showa figures, and the detail on the face alone makes it worth grabbing.

The paint on the drill hands is cleaner than I expected for this price point, and the figure stands fine on its own without a base. Only downside is the size — it's smaller than I pictured for a movie monster figure, so it looks a bit lost next to my larger ones.
